PERSONAL PROPERTY ALLOWED

Important Notice:  Residents will be charged $100 for program materials when they enter treatment.  This amount must be paid as soon as possible.  All funds sent to the resident will be put toward the payment of this charge until it is paid in full.

ATTENTION:  DO NOT BRING VALUABLE ITEMS OR ITEMS WITH SENTIMENTAL VALUE TO THE CENTER.   WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE.

ALL RESIDENTS should bring their drivers license and social security card, if they have them.

Residents may have the following personal property in their possession while residing at the Center.  Clothing should be clean and in good repair.  Clothing that is too small, too large (sloppy), has inappropriate logos, rips, large stains, should not be brought to the Center.  Clothing should be for the current season.  Residents are allowed to exchange clothing at the beginning of winter and summer.

 

CLOTHING
- 2 pairs of pajamas
- 1 bathrobe
- 7 sets of underwear (1 set includes 1 pair of briefs or boxer shorts and 1 undershirt, for males (white t-shirts may not be worn as an outside shirt);  for females, 1 set includes 1 pair of  panties  and 1 bra)
- 1 pair insulated/thermal underwear
- 7 pairs of socks for wear with street clothes
- 2 pairs of athletic socks for walking/running
- 7 shirts (shirts with tails must be tucked in and worn with a belt.  Shirts with drug/alcohol related logos are not permitted.
NOTE:  Female residents must wear baggy, long shirts that cover their butts. Tight, short, form-fitting shirts will be put into storage if brought to the Center and Center T-Shirts will be loaned until appropriate shirts are either sent in or bought.)
- 7 pairs of trousers/slacks/jeans (not low cut, not tight, no spandex leggings that cling like a second skin, must have at least 1 inch of slack.  Cut offs are not suitable.  Slacks must be hemmed, no frayed bottoms or slits up side. Capri pants, no shorter than 4 inches above the ankle, are OK)
- 2 pairs of closed-toe shoes (work and dress) Sandals are not appropriate.
- 2 belts (1 dress, 1 casual)
- 1 pair of athletic shoes for walking/running
- 1 pair of shower shoes/flip flops (required to be worn to, from and in the shower or in the bedroom only)
- 1 pair bedroom slippers (to be worn in the bedroom only)
- 1 coat or jacket (if a heavy shirt is worn as a jacket, and it has shirt tails, it must be worn tucked in)
- 1 cap or hat (Cowboy hats, do-rags and bandanas are not permitted)
- 2 sweaters
- 2 pairs of shorts (shall be at least 1 inch above the knee and have at least a 9 inch inseam)
- 2 pairs of shorts suitable for physical exercise (walking/running, same length as above)
- 2 t-shirts suitable for physical exercise (Not white without a pocket)
- 1 set of sweats (pants and shirt) suitable for physical exercise
PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS
Personal hygiene supplies should be large size so they last a month and a half.  Items having alcohol listed as the first ingredient are not allowed. Ingredient labels must be left on the item or they will be confiscated.  Those that are allowed in the Center include:
- 1 toothbrush
- 2 containers of toothpaste
- 2 dental floss or dental tape
- 10 “Good News” safety type razors or 1 electric razor
- 2 cans shaving cream or gel
- 1 beard/mustache trimmer
- 1 hair clippers with attachments
- 2 containers shampoo, any kind
- 2 containers hair conditioner, any kind
- 2 containers hair gel or mousse (alcohol listed as the second or lower ingredient)
- 1 container hairspray or hair spritz (alcohol as the second or lower ingredient)
- 2 containers baby oil or moisturizer
- 2 box tampons or sanitary napkins for females                     
- 1 fingernail/toenail clipper (no file attached)
- 2 emery boards
- 1 hair brush
- 1 comb
- 1 hair pick
- 1 hair dryer
- 1 curling iron
- 5 hair devices (combs, clips, rubber bands, etc.)
- 2 pkg. Q-tips (must not be disposed of in toilet or shower drains)
- 2 pkg. Cotton balls
- 4 bars soap, any kind
- 1 container of hair remover (miracle shave, Nair, etc.)
-DO NOT BRING MAKE UP. Make up is not allowed until Phase II. It may be brought back from the resident's first OCAP.
- 1 container deodorant/anti-perspirant, Not aerosol.
            - 1 container dusting powder, any kind
            - 1 container hairspray or hair spritz (alcohol listed as the second or lower ingredient)
            - 1 container foot powder

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
Items marked with an asterix * are required items which will be used for classes taken.

- 1 Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, Cocaine, or Narcotics Anonymous (Can be obtained at any AA meeting or in most book stores.) *

- Yarn and crochet hook (no knitting needles or sewing needles)
- 1 Bible or other religious book
- 1 religious item like rosary (may not be worn)   
- 1 wedding band

- 1 pair sun glasses
- 14 plastic coat hangers
- 1 ~ 8x10 picture frame, no glass
- 1 pkg of ear plugs (if snoring bothers you) A pkg contains more than 1 pair of plugs.
- 6 pictures (may be placed inside cover of notebook, in frame on dresser, or kept in locker, and may not be suggestive, provocative, gang-related, or have alcohol or drug use depicted in them.)                       
- eyeglasses or contacts if appropriate
- contact lens solutions as needed
- prescription drugs (30 day supply) for a current condition, in the unopened bag from the pharmacy. 
- over the counter drugs for a current condition (not “just in case”) must be approved in writing by a medical doctor, must be in thier original, unopened packages.  No more than 2 packages of any one item.  No Tylenol PM or other sleeping pills.  Be sure to have a doctor’s written authorization to take more than the normal adult dose of any OTC medication.
- $45 cash (any extra money over this amount will be deposited into resident’s account.)
- 2 towel and washcloth
- 2 pillows
- 2 twin sheet sets (2 fitted, 2 flat sheets)
- 2 pillow cases
- 1 blanket or comforter
- 1 twin size mattress cover
- 1 large laundry detergent (liquid or powder)
- laundry starch (non-aerosol spray) (optional)
- NO BLEACH
- 1 large box of fabric softener sheets
- 1 container Febreeze non-aerosol room freshener spray
- 1 alarm clock (electric, wind up or battery, NO CLOCK RADIOS)

Female residents may substitute dresses, skirts, blouses and pantyhose in order to have 7 complete changes of clothes.  Dresses and skirts must be well below the knee, and may be worn on Sundays for church or to outside appointments only.

Residents who do not have appropriate clothing upon entering the Center may contact family members or friends to secure needed items.  If these items are brought to the Center by the family member, this is known as an “Initial Drop Off”.

No clothing or personal supplies may be brought into the Center, after intake, without the Senior RS’s (Richard Diaz) approval.  Residents needing larger or smaller size clothing may have it sent in, but only after consulting with Mr. Diaz.  Indigent residents will be taken to a local thrift shop to get needed items.  Any additions or losses are to be reflected on the resident’s inventory list.  The inventory list will be used to determine if the resident has more than the prescribed number of items in their possession.  Occasional searches are performed.

Family members or friends may not bring personal items to Residents at the Center, without prior approval from Richard Diaz, and this is to be done only in exceptional cases.  No medications or personal hygiene items may be brought into the Center by family members.  Personal hygiene items may not be an aerosol, contain alcohol as the first ingredient, or be in glass containers, and must be in their original, unopened packages.  No more than two packages, tubes, or bottles of any one item may be brought into the Center at one time.

CAUTION: All items will be checked for contraband before being brought into the Center. There should be no cigarette lighters, drugs, weapons, phones, credit or phone cards, etc. brought into the Center.
