OUR MISSION
The mission and philosophy of the Community Supervision and Corrections Department of Williamson County are varied and show the changes that have occurred in the courts, legislature, and community supervision in the past few years as prison and jail populations rise at an alarming rate. The department's mission as approved by the Community Justice Council states that the department will:

Protect society by the timely response to alleged violations by an offender of the terms and conditions of his/her release, to monitor the offender's mental and emotional well-being, to monitor the offender for potential conflicts with or risks to society,

Provide effective programs and sentencing alternatives that minimize the cost of the criminal justice system without increasing the risk to the community,

Provide an atmosphere and opportunity to facilitate positive changes in the offenders,

Enforce the orders of the court in a fair and equitable manner, mindful that the role of the officer includes the rehabilitation of the offender, and
-
Maintain and improve professional liaisons with other law enforcement and social service agencies.
LONG RANGE GOALS
The department will strive to:

Increase community involvement and responsibility in developing sentencing programs that provide effective sanctions for felony offenders;

Provide increased opportunities for felony offenders to make restitution to victims of crime through financial reimbursement or community service;

Provide increased use of community penalties designed specifically to meet local needs;

Promote efficiency and economy in the delivery of community-based correctional programs consistent with the objectives defined in the Penal Code;

Provide the Courts of this jurisdiction with sentencing alternatives to incarceration in the penitentiary or county jail when possible and called for, that offer protection to the community and rehabilitative services to the offender;

Provide a range of services to aid the offender in complying with terms of release and to become a contributing member of the community;

Maintain staff to facilitate manageable caseloads, delivery of services, and comply with casework law requirements;
-
Develop alternatives to incarceration through the use of pre-trial services, intensive supervision, electronic monitoring, referrals to restitution centers, court residential treatment centers, boot camps, substance abuse treatment centers and effective training of staff;

Contract for services that are efficient and cost effective; and
- Reduce the revocation rate and free up jail and prison beds for those offenders that truly need to be incarcerated.
